A small hidden camera was discovered in a Victoria Hall washroom on Feb. 13, according to an email sent to residence staff.

The camera, which was disguised as a towel hook, was found inside a shower stall in one of the hall’s co-ed bathrooms.

“A camera was found and was removed, and all other residence washrooms were checked as a precaution,” David Patterson, director of Campus Security, told the Journal via email. “The camera was turned over to the Kingston Police and is currently under their investigation.”

According to the email sent to residence staff, students were advised of the incident by staff members and informed of available support and counseling.

On Feb. 14, Kingston Police spoke to students who live on the floor on which the device was found by students.

No Secure Digital card was found in the camera. The email states that it would be inappropriate to disclose whether any images were found by police.

The Journal will post updates as information becomes available.
